The highly anticipated American spy-thriller series “Citadel” had its star-studded premiere in Mumbai, India, with lead actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who plays the character Nadia Sinh, expressing her excitement to start the global campaign for the show in her home country. Executive produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, “Citadel” follows the story of elite agents Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh, who have had their memories wiped after the fall of independent global spy agency Citadel. The duo builds new lives under new identities, unaware of their pasts, until they are approached by Mason’s former Citadel colleague, Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), for help in preventing rival agency Manticore from establishing a new world order.
Chopra Jonas shared with reporters that she and Madden clicked when they first met, bonding over their shared love for disciplined acting preparations. At the premiere, Chopra Jonas donned a turquoise green Versace dress, while Madden chose a charcoal black suit. Madden also expressed his honour to work with Chopra Jonas, and was pleased that the show’s first premiere was held in India.
The event was attended by some of the biggest names in the Indian film industry, including veteran actor Rekha, Varun Dhawan, Raj & DK, Kabir Khan, and filmmakers Tanuja Chandra, Shonali Bose, Madhur Bhandarkar, Anubhav Sinha, Nikkhil Advani, Siddharth Roy Kapur, and Vasan Bala. The first two episodes of “Citadel” will be premiered on Amazon Prime globally on April 28 in 40 languages, and will also be the flagship show that will blend with local shows already under production in India and Italy.
Creators Raj & DK, who are on board as directors and showrunners for the Indian installment titled “Farzi”, shared that they have been working with international teams for the show, and having the first version premiere in India was exciting. Dhawan, who is starring in the Indian installment, expressed that working on the show is a tough job but is motivating him to work harder. He also shared that the American and Indian versions are interconnected, a small spoiler for the viewers.
The event was attended by a host of Indian actors, including Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, Saqib Saleem, Mohit Raina, Shreya Dhanwanthry, Shweta Tripathi, Kubra Sait, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Patralekha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rakul Preet Singh, Jim Sarbh, Neha Dhupia, Bhuvan Arora, and Nora Fatehi.
